[As Velvet grabs her things, Veneer just stands there with his arms folded, avoiding her furious gaze.

...is what he WANTS to say, but he doesn't see a point in pushing her. Especially since Velvet said she doesn't want to be here right now. That's...good! Actually?? He knows Velvet-speak enough to know that means she also doesn't want to stay away forever, or so he hopes. She can cool off, and they can try again! It'll......be fine! Everything is fine!]

[Realizing Veneer isn't stopping her, Velvet bristles even more and stomps for the door. She swings it open and gives one last petulant—]

[At least when she shuts the door he wont have to look at her anymore.She'll set on down the hall immediately to get downstairs, completely forgetting her keycard when she does.]

[When he's certain Velvet is gone, Veneer exhales aggressively and nearly collapses, his body limping forward like the depressed noodle that he is. That was so, SO hard?? He thought standing up for himself would feel more liberating, but instead all he feels is...incredibly empty.

When he pulls himself back up, he begins pacing, shaking his hands like he always does when his anxiety spikes. Velvet...isn't here! So he can panic as much as he wants now!!]

[Since DAY ONE, Veneer had put a tremendous amount of stress on himself. It was supposed to be HIS JOB to fix Velvet's situation, to get her moved over to Heaven, where they could just chill the rest of their time here away. How is he supposed to do that now that she pretty much cemented her soul into the pocket of some Hell guy?! What if he hurts her...or makes her do things she doesn't want to do? Would...that be his fault, too? He should've tried harder...he should've kept an eye on what she was doing...!!

Veneer wheezes as his thoughts become more aggressive and he forces himself to stop. He should...rest!! Yeah!! He can just put on his fuzziest robe and curl into his own bed for once and maybe turn on the TV as loud as he can so it can drown out his surprisingly overwhelming thoughts. It's a....um, selfcare night! Sure!

It's not like anyone is coming in here anytime soon, anyway! So he can just sob into his pillow judgement free and worry about all this in the morning. It's just his sister's soul... No...no biggie...]
