Velvet really does love to do her own thing— it's not like they can't handle being separated at all, so the twins are wont to go off on their own and investigate things as long as there isn't some deep secret to hide.

But she doesn't usually.... avoid Veneer, and by the time evening rolls around it sure must seem like she's given him the cold shoulder, considering she's not looked him in the face all day. Even now she's curled up in a chair facing the door, nose deep in a magazine, face obscured.

Surely... surely she isn't mad, right? If she was mad about something she would be loud about it, right? But Velvet just continues acting like her magazine is the most important thing in the world, even more interesting than judgy TV shows.

[This is driving him NUTS.

Velvet giving him the silent treatment isn't anything new, but that's just it, he can tell when her tantrums are...normal. Veneer can usually pinpoint what trigged yet another bout of cold shoulder, but he's just completely clueless this time around. Weren't they getting along? He took the bar job like she wanted, they share the same friends!
